Unless youre talking a diesel type black cloud behind your truck i wouldnt worry about it. Blowing white smoke is a red flag for your diesel engine yet we see this happen all the time to our customers. If it is truly nasty let the dealer take a look and park it there overnight to do a morning cold startacceleration run. If the engine is not receiving the amount of air needed to properly mix with the diesel fuel it will burn more fuel and cause an increased amount of black smoke.
The air inlet is restricted which means there is not enough air entering the engine. I also get a strong smell of fuel in the exhaust. It seems to run fine idles ok but as soon as i step on the throtle it start blowing black smoke.
