About

I try to think deeply and Christianly about the problems we’re confronted with in the (post)modern world and how we might work to overcome them. I hope all people of goodwill, Christian or not, find my perspective helpful and feel comfortable engaging in dialogue.

  1. Pastor:
Read your two blogs on the analogy of white privilege & biking. Hit the nail on the head. I’m from California, been in Louisiana for about 12 years

I’m on the leadership committee of a nascent statewide bike/ped advocacy group and also new board member of a local bike advocacy group. I am one of two people of color on the board, and probably the oldest member of the group. I’ve also recently joined a local group that has been conducting a dialogue on race (they’ve been at it for at least ten years).

With your permission, I’d like to share your two bike/privilege blogs with both my dialogue group and with my bike/ped advocates. I think that it resonate with both groups. Particularly with the bike/ped advocates, who haven’t understood the subtle implications of focussing on improved infrastructure, better enforcement of the rules of the road, etc could have an unintended negative consequence to poor communities and POCs.

One more thing, have you seen this post: http://www.citylab.com/commute/2015/01/white-privilege-on-a-bicycle/384634/
